Semi Truck Suspension Repair in Orlando, FL

When a semi truck suspension goes, you feel it before you see it. The cab won’t stop bouncing. The trailer leans on tight ramps. Steering gets vague. Tires wear in patterns that don’t make sense. And the longer it goes, the more it costs — bad shocks chew through bushings, sagging air bags wreck ride-height sensors, and a worn ball joint that lets a wheel walk an eighth of an inch will eat a steer tire in two weeks.

We fix all of that. Top Rides is a full-service heavy-duty truck shop at 9640 Sidney Hayes Rd in Orlando, and suspension work is one of the things we do every day. ASE-certified mechanics, in-shop and mobile. Call (407) 591-6747.

Every type of semi truck suspension, in one shop

Semi trucks don’t all use the same suspension. Day cabs, sleepers, dump trucks, lowboys, and tankers each get spec’d differently, and we work on all of them. If it bolts to a Class 7 or Class 8 frame, we service it.

  • Air suspension (air bag / air ride): Hendrickson, Peterbilt Low Air Leaf, Volvo T-Ride, Freightliner AirLiner, Mack mRide, Kenworth AG400, International Ravens. Bag replacement, height control valves, ride-height sensors, leveling valves, air lines, and dryer issues that show up as suspension faults.
  • Leaf spring suspension: re-arching, broken main leaves, U-bolt replacement, spring pin and bushing service, hanger and shackle work.
  • Walking beam suspension: pivot pin and bushing replacement, beam alignment, torque rod work — Hendrickson HN, RT, RTE, and Mack camelback.
  • Multi-leaf and equalizer beam systems on older fleet trucks.
  • Shocks and struts across all configurations.
  • Ball joints, king pins, tie rod ends, drag links, and steering dampers.
  • Cab air ride and cab shocks, including driver and passenger air seats.
  • Trailer air ride suspensions — we do trailers too.

If you’re not sure which kind of suspension your truck has, just call. We’ll figure it out from your VIN before you bring it in.

How we diagnose a suspension problem

A truck that bounces on a smooth road is rarely “just shocks.” We pressure-check the air system, walk the frame for cracked hangers and bent torque rods, measure ride height at all four corners, and put the truck on the rack to look at U-bolts, bushings, and ball joints under load. Half the suspension complaints that come in here turn out to be something adjacent — a leaking gladhand, a bad ride-height sensor, an out-of-spec axle alignment that’s loading the wrong side of the truck.

That’s the part competitors miss. They replace the part you point at. We figure out why the part failed in the first place, so you’re not back in the bay six months later for the same problem.

Common problems we see (and what they actually mean)

Excessive bouncing on highway. Usually shocks. Sometimes a collapsed air bag on the same axle that’s faking shock symptoms.

Truck sits low on one corner. Bad air bag, leaking air line, or a stuck height control valve. Less often, a broken leaf.

Front-end shimmy or wander. King pins, drag link, tie rod ends, or a worn steer-axle ball joint. We check the whole linkage because shimmy travels.

Cupped or scalloped tire wear. Almost always a worn shock or a bad bushing letting the axle move under load. Sometimes alignment, but the suspension caused the alignment to drift.

Air suspension dumping at idle. Leaking bag, bad height control valve, or a dryer that isn’t keeping up.

Loud clunk when going over bumps. Worn bushings, loose U-bolts, or a broken hanger. Ignore this one and you’ll find out which.

Mobile service across Central Florida

If your truck won’t make it to the shop, we’ll come to you. We dispatch service trucks across Orlando, Kissimmee, Apopka, Sanford, Winter Garden, St. Cloud, and the rest of Orange County. For air suspension issues that strand a truck at a dock or a yard, mobile is usually faster than a tow.

Why fleets and owner-operators keep coming back

We’ve been working on heavy-duty trucks in Orlando for years. Our techs are ASE-certified and trained on diesel-specific systems, not auto-shop guys taking a stab at a Volvo. The shop is bilingual — English and Russian — which matters to a lot of the drivers who run through Central Florida. We do the suspension work, but we also do the alignment that should follow it, the brake check that should accompany it, and the DOT inspection that keeps you legal afterward.

You can also see the rest of what we do: engine repair, alignment services, brake service, trailer repair, and 24/7 roadside assistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does semi truck suspension repair cost in Orlando?

It depends on what’s wrong. A single shock replacement on a steer axle runs different than rebuilding a Hendrickson walking beam. Call us with your VIN and what the truck is doing, and we’ll give you a real number before you commit.

Can you fix air suspension on the road, or do I have to come to the shop?

Most of the common air suspension failures — leaking bags, bad height control valves, leaking lines — we can handle on a mobile call if you’re stranded in the Orlando metro. Major work like replacing axle hangers comes back to the shop.

Do you work on trailer suspensions too, or just tractors?

Both. Trailer air rides, leaf spring trailer suspensions, equalizer beams. We do the whole rig.

What truck makes do you service?

All of them. Volvo, Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, International, Western Star. We have parts relationships with all the major suppliers in Central Florida.

How fast can you get my truck back on the road?

Most suspension jobs that don’t need ordered parts get same-day or next-day turnaround. Air bags, shocks, U-bolts, and common bushings we usually have on the shelf.
